Swami Vivekananda: Pride of India
"Sisters and Brothers of America", these electrifying words led thousands of Americans to clap for 2 minutes with standing ovation in 1893 Chicago. This was the first time when a Sanyasi reached America and displayed on the world front the power of Indian Culture and heritage. It is about that time when India was under British control and a new wave of nationalism was brought up.
About the Speech of 1893
"It fills my heart with the joy unspeakable of..." when most of the eloquent speakers were busy and caught up with embracing their religion, Swami Vivekanda gave the world the message of tolerance and universal acceptance, He talked about how in times of difficulties our beloved nation sheltered the persecuted and refugees. He quoted :
"I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal toleration, but we accept all religions as true. I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religions and all nations of the earth."
Swami Vivekananda redirected us with the truth that we all come from the same source and will merge in the same through different tendencies we take.
"As the different streams having their sources in different paths which men take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee."
Later on, in his next speeches he very fervently talks about the law of conservation of cosmic energy, science in spiritualism, Vedas and the Rishis. Did you know most of the Rishis were women?
He had made the most powerful impression on the world front as The New York Herald wrote "Vivekananda is undoubtedly the greatest figure in the Parliament of Religions. Ater hearing him we feel how foolish it is to send missionaries to this learned nation."
The New York Critique wrote, "He is an orator by divine right, and his strong, intelligent face in its picturesque setting of yellow and orange was hardly less interesting than those earnest words, and the rich, rhythmical utterance he gave them".

Vivekananda: Inspiration for the world
Today in modern India, the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is celebrated as National Youth Day on 12 January each year. His enthusiastic divine and friendly character is still remembered as World Brotherhood Day on 11 September
Rabindranath Tagore suggested "If you want to know India, study.
Vivekanda. In him everything is positive and nothing negative.
Mahatma Gandhi said : "I have gone through his work very thoroughly, and after having gone through them, the love i had for my country has become thousand-fold."
American industrialist John D. Rockefeller reportedly made his first large donation for public welfare and later became a notable philanthropist after a meeting with Vivekananda
Dr.B.R Ambedkar stated : The greatest man India produced in recent centuries was not Gandhi but Vivekananda
The list does not end here and goes on till the moon including Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Barack Obama, The gem of Indian industrialization Jamshedji Tata, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, and on and on.
Swami Vivekananda with Nikola Tesla
One of those names include Nikola Tesla, one of the most renowned scientist of his time. Nikola Tesla was so impressed after meeting Swami ji that he used words like Aksha and Prana in his new discoveries which largely based on the context of our ancient Vedas. Well, there's a very long list, let me know in the comment in the section if you want me to bring that topic up.
A Message
The contribution of Swami Vivekananda was so enormous and he believed that the youth of this nation keep the nationalism alive with our cultural heritage. We shouldn't permit his words and contribution to die in the soil when they deserve to be recalled, when they deserve to be spread and when they need to be implemented among all sects of the society so we could actually form the nation we were meant to.
Swami Vivekananda said, “My faith is in younger generation, the modern generation. They will work out the whole problem like lions….”
