Be friend with yoga

Our lives had already been messed up and tired while corona virus added fuel to fire. In this global pandemic and amidst all the tensions and worries don't forget to revive yourself  up. What could be better occasion then international yoga day itself to make your life less troublesome and actually get a life!

What is yoga?

Yoga is very ancient practice in itself and it truly explains that it comes from Sanskrit Language. Yoga simply means unification of mental, physical and spiritual elements of life. It aims at connecting us with nature and establish peace and calmness within ourselves.

The whole theory of Yoga is to go beyond the mind.

Swami Vivekananda

But rather than just being a practice, it is a habit which had been followed from like some thousand years in India. It's quite unfortunate that when people across the world are accepting the merits of Yoga, netizens of India seem to lack interest in the heritage of their own nation. Ironic?! Yeah.

Yoga and its origin

Namaste! You have already got a glimpse about its origin. Yoga originated in India some thousands years back. Quite ancient, right? The word "Yoga" arrives from the Sanskrit language, literary meaning योग (unification). You may also find mentions of Yoga in literary sources of Indian History like : Rigveda, Upanishads, Sutras of Patanjali, Shankhya Philosophy and so on.

In current scenario, Yoga is globally practiced to enrich the lifestyle of people. Swami Vivekananda is credited most for the introduction of Yoga to the western world on the large scale.

Relevance of Yoga, Today

Today, it is very common to hear about the mental issue like depression, stress and anxiety. Moreover, here are some of us who most often have back pain, headache, fatigue or disease related to lungs, liver and kidneys. Corona virus outbreak ofcourse! So, my work here is not to make you remind of the problems of your life but to suggest you a solution and Yoga fits so well in that dimension. How? Let's see

Eradication of depression, anxiety and stress

While performing yoga, you don't such stretch some muscles but you also take some time to revive yourself mentally. While doing Yoga there's release of some chemicals in your brain like gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins which make your brain feel calm and better.

A measure to control and prevent diseases

Okay so this one might not be new to you and one excuse you might use to escape Yoga is your hectic and never ending schedule but if you don't have make time for Yoga than diseases will make time for you. I at no point think it to be a worthy trade-off or is it?.

Becoming Self-conscious

A sound mind  is in a sound body

Imagine eating Rajma Chawal while watching Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and not even realising how your foods tastes until the bowl finishes. Today, our lives have been much like this scenario, filled with so many things simultaneously and we don't realise  that we have lost control over our mind.

Mindfulness is like being woken up. So, the practice of mindfulness which can be attained through Yoga can help you become more self aware about your acts. Once you become self aware, all the unnecessary worries are taken care of themselves.

How to start

Now you are pretty much aware about the benefits Yoga possesses and adding more to these existing merits includes healthy skin, long and cheerful life , everlasting energy, connection to divine and knowledge of self and so on. But the question arises how to actually start ? So, here's a suggestion, "Don't rush so fast ".

You can simply make an initiative by waking up early in the morning and start with some basic warm up exercise and go on for light meditation (focused breathing may help). Do it for at least half an hour in the starting and increase as per your compatibility. Believe it will change your life in so many number of days that you can just imagine.

Dear Reader, Hope you enjoyed reading and felt the significance of Yoga in your life. Once I got so inspired by one of  my friends that I had set up an alarm calling "Yoga se hi Hoga". Tb toh nahi hua but let's do it together this time. Feedbacks are most welcoming!✨

The game was quite interesting  and suddenly a question appeared "how many muscles does it take to smile?"
